In 2010, we founded a 501c3 nonprofit rescue for predominately Newfoundlands, That Newfoundland Place, Inc…however, we do assist with other breeds as well … Kirby Vet, Dr. Ernst, takes care of not only our rescues but my own personal dogs as well… prior to 2010, Dr. Ernst… handled our rescues for the other rescue we volunteered for, the Newfoundland Club of New England…Dr Ernst was given an award from NCNE for her caring and compassion and quality care of our dogs…Dr Ernst and Kirby Vet are there for us constantly…the staff is professional and extremely experienced not to mention compassionate and heart felt…we are so grateful for them!

Wendy is truly one of the most caring, trustworthy people I know. We have followed her until she opened her own practice and she will be the vet to my animals until she decides to quit the practice. She will do everything she can without suggesting ridiculous testing, she can admit when she’s stumped and direct you to the people who specialize. I admire her expertise, humility and bedside manner. She loves animals and cares about the bond between the animals and people. Ten stars.

This past weekend I had to bring my dog of 14 years to be put down. She was my first dog ever. Upon arrival everyone was very sweet and friendly. When she came in asked if I had any questions she understood why I had none. She explained how it was going to be down and that it would be quick and she would only feel as if she was falling asleep. She allowed me to hold her the entire time. They apologized because they knew it was not easy to do. They helped put her in a burial box and helped bring her out to our car. I have been with many friends for when they had to do this and none of those vets were as kind hearted and understanding and apologetic as Kirby vet. I will bring any future pets here always. Thank you guys for everything you’ve done.

Our kitties (present and past) have loved Dr. Ernst and our recent experience with Dr. Solomon confirms how lucky we are to have these two outstanding (extremely competent, gentle and kind) vets looking after our cats. Our experience with our dog was absolutely wonderful. When my vet was out of town and our dog needed surgery Kirby came through for us. They scheduled us right away, explained everything to us, followed up on his condition and had amazing care after the surgery too. We found all the staff to be very caring and knowledgeable. They will be our vet of choice from now on!

I have been through multiple vets, until finding Kirby. They are by far the best vet I have ever been to. Both vets at this practice are excellent. We usually see Dr Ruth Solomon, she is a fantastic vet and is great with my dogs. Kirby always gets us in quickly in emergency situations, and the staff are all friendly and helpful.

I absolutely, confidently, 100% trust Dr. Ernst. She has been my pets’ doctor for years for everything from checkups to surgeries. It feels terrible to not trust your pets’ doctor, or to have any series of experiences where trust of all doctors is compromised. While I felt that way when I first visited years ago, Dr. Ernst has always given me and my animals’ kindness, empathy, and caring and I deeply value her and her hospital.
